Paul Pogba ignored advice from Manchester United’s medical team and trained privately despite concerns over his hamstring, resulting in his latest injury setback.
The French star is likely to miss the next six weeks after tearing his hamstring against FC Basel in the Champions League, forced to be replaced after 19 minutes of the match.
And, according to The Sun, Jose Mourinho is furious with his record signing for going against the advice of United’s medical staff and taking part in sessions with a personal trainer.
Pogba had suffered a similar injury last season, missing three games, and was given very specific instructions about how to prevent the problem from reoccurring.
But he ignored those warnings and undertook a private training regime, one which the United medics believe made him far more vulnerable to tweaking his hamstring again.
As a result, there is little sympathy from either Mourinho or United for Pogba’s setback, given that he has ignored the consistent advice of the club’s medical department.
Manager Jose Mourinho told MUTV earlier this week: ‘I don’t know [what the severity is], I just know from experience it’s a muscular injury.
