Manchester United lead rivals Man City over Alexis Sanchez

The Red Devils have emerged as serious contenders to sign the Chile international despite it having been widely assumed a move to Man City was inevitable. 

Reports suggest they are ready to make Arsenal a serious offer of around £25million for the forward and are willing to pay him more than Manchester City. 

The Manchester Evening News report that Man City are reluctant to meet Sanchez’s wage demands, which are understood to be around £300,000-a-week.

Etihad say the club are ‘not desperate’ to sign Sanchez and will simply turn their attention to other big-name players if a deal fails
