Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits the two Manchester clubs appear in ‘good shape’ to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Manchester United and City are both unbeaten after five league games and have identical records at the top of the table.

City have appeared particularly ruthless, smashing Watford 6-0 on Saturday a week after putting five past Klopp’s Liverpool.
Asked about United and City’s superb starts to the 2017-18 campaign, Klopp said: ‘I watched United and City, but it’s not my job to count points.

‘They are in a good shape but a season is like this. As long as your attitude is right then you do not need to look at other teams.

‘It’s not a surprise that City and United are in [the title race]. I cannot always say what everybody wants to hear.

‘If I am fine with a lot of things then I say it and a lot of people do not want to hear it. I can’t change my opinion every day because there are 500,000,000 different opinions.’

The Reds face Leicester City in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and Klopp confirmed three of his starting XI for the clash at the King Power Stadium.

‘As long as we can line up strong, we will line up strong,’ he said in his pre-match press conference. ‘I’m sure both sides will make a few changes, that makes sense.
