On a beautiful sunny day, a couple from Kitchener, Canada, were busing posing for their wedding photoshoot. While the bride was getting her solo shots clicked, the groom suddenly dived into a nearby river. Wondering why? Well, the reason will leave you shocked. Clayton Cook noticed a small child struggling to swin in the river. Without thinking for even a split second, he jumped and went onto save the little one, while photographer Darren Hatt captured the heroic act.
“His face was underwater and he was fighting, like he was really fighting,” Cook told CTV. What’s more, the groom didn’t even care to take off his wedding jacket. But, for the bride — Brittany Cook — it was hardly a surprise. “That’s Clay, like that’s Clay to me. It’s something he would just instinctively do,” she said.
Sharing the pictures on his Facebook page, the photographer wrote a heartfelt caption for him. “A special shout out to last night’s groom Clayton! While I was taking solo pictures of the bride this little guy was pushed into the river behind me by another child. By the time the bride noticed and shouted out, Clayton had already jumped down and brought him to safety. His quick action saved the little guy who was struggling to swim. Well done sir!” he wrote.
No sooner did he post them online, it went viral with more than 10,000 likes and 3,300 shares. Tagging him as a “hero”, people couldn’t stop themselves from expressing their delight. “Great way to start a marriage. ,” one wrote, and another one commented, “God bless your Union and I pray God continues to bless you and your family because of your Heart. Mr. Hero that you are.”
